Farewell to my pal, Chester...

Sometimes we take pets for granted...they'll always be here by our side. Their love is so pure, no strings...they just want to make you happy. The occasional treat never hurts a canine relationship--just sayin'.

My brother Ron and his family have had these three doggies in their family for 12 years and the little guy to the right, Chester, was put to sleep a week ago. A hole remains--the void is huge, and the remaining girls are very unsure. Over time everyone makes the adjustment, right? It's human nature...is it doggie nature, too? I wonder.

I am so glad I was in Indy for Tyler's wedding in January 09 and had the chance to visit with my three friends and be with Chester...shhhhh...don't tell anyone, but he was my favorite, even though he did pee on me in a moment of excitement many years ago. All was forgiven in a nano doggie second. But I love the memory.

So what is our take-away? It's never simple, but it *is* personal and if you are of the mind that our pets *are* family (as I believe)...then they are ranked right up there with all the family. One exception might be that they have halos.

Party on Chester, be pain free, and give my regards to Austin, Josie, Peaches, Freddy, Little H, and the rest of our crew.

With all my love,

Aunt Pam

  1. What a sweet story, and yes they are part of the family and I'm sure are missed when they are gone, cute picture of the three of them.
